Getting started

  1. Install ZipFlip and open it. It watches your Downloads folder; the Watching card shows which one.
  2. Download ZIPs the way you always do. There's nothing to change in your browser.
  3. Keep ZipFlip open, minimized or in the system tray. Each new ZIP is unpacked into your Destination folder once its download has finished.

ZipFlip only unpacks ZIPs that arrive after it starts watching, so the ZIPs already in Downloads are left alone. Photos, videos and other downloads aren't touched. To bring in any file yourself, drag it onto ZipFlip or click Add files.

If your browser saves downloads somewhere other than Downloads, click Change on the Watching card and pick that folder.

A file says "Needs attention"

ZipFlip couldn't safely extract it. Common reasons: the download didn't finish, the ZIP is password-protected, it's split into several parts, or it contains unsafe file paths. Your original download is always kept. After downloading it again or fixing the problem, click Retry failed.

Where are my files?

Extracted files go to the Destination folder shown in ZipFlip; click Open on that card. Your original downloads stay where your browser saved them. Double-click any row in ZipFlip to open it.

Change how folders are organized

Click Settings and choose Keep original folders, One flat folder or Group by media type. The choice applies to ZIPs processed from then on; existing folders aren't rearranged.

Keep ZipFlip running in the background

Click Keep in tray. ZipFlip keeps watching from the system tray; double-click its tray icon to bring it back. To quit, right-click the tray icon and choose Exit ZipFlip.

The free plan, upgrading and moving to a new PC

Open ZipFlip and choose Sign in with Google to start ZipFlip Free: up to 10 ZIPs in any 7 days. ZIPs over the limit wait and unzip by themselves when there's room. To remove the limit, choose Upgrade to Unlimited; after you pay, ZipFlip unlocks for that Google account. Choose Check again if it hasn't yet. Bought with a different email address? Choose I have a license key… and enter the key from your receipt once.

One purchase works on up to 3 of your PCs at a time. On a fourth PC, ZipFlip lists the others so you can remove one you no longer use. Uninstalling ZipFlip also frees that PC.

Windows SmartScreen or antivirus warnings

New apps can trigger Windows SmartScreen until Windows has seen them many times. Only install ZipFlip from this site or the Microsoft Store. If your antivirus flags it, email us the product name and the exact message before allowing it.

Uninstall

Microsoft Store version, and direct versions installed with ZipFlip Setup: Settings → Apps → ZipFlip → Uninstall. Older direct versions: exit ZipFlip, then delete the folder %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\ZipFlip and the ZipFlip shortcuts on your desktop and in the Start menu. Optionally also delete %LOCALAPPDATA%\ZipFlip, which holds your settings and file history. Your downloaded and extracted files are not deleted.
